Backyard Barcelona

Begun in early 2006, this project was the combined effort of artist/ designer, Dylan Tellesen, and I. Comprised of six separate projects in one, it took us nearly 8 months to complete while working in nearly every type of weather you can imagine. Finally, it resulted in a swimming pool and spa, two benches, an outdoor fireplace, a lizard fountain, and a colorful, spiraling walkway. Many of the tiles in this project I made by hand such as the ochre colored circles and the carved spanish style tiles that are glazed in brown and broken up. Also the bulbous eyes and green dots on the lizard and the blue ‘blister’ tiles on the fireplace were handmade and fired in my kiln at home. �During this project I started up my own line of tile for sale called Rebel Tiles.
