"I kept finding all of these strange shaped frames in thrift stores. They looked like the work of wood-shop
students who gave their finished projects to the unappreciative people. Some of them had mirrors in them already,
(most didn't) and some of them had big holes in the shelf that I couldn't quite figure out. Towel holder? For
those odd shaped ones, I had fun making custom ceramic shapes to hang in them. These sorry
wood-shop rejects just seemed the perfect surface for my mosaics" - Robin Indar
Mirror Shelf 1

This one actually had a "layers" concept behind it with a fish and watery scape at the bottom,
a polka-dotty astral plane in the middle and above it, blue sky and then fire!
Mirror Shelf 2

This one ended up with the unfortunate name "The Black Tooth". It was intended to have a custom vase
shaped like a jesters hat to fit in the hole, but as the clay was starting to dry, Robin realized she wouldn't be
able to fit the shape down into the hole from the top, so she ended up squeezing it to fit, hense the
bizarre tooth shape.
Mirror Shelf 3

In this one, she made a coil shape of clay that ended up looking a bit like the upturned hat of an elf.
The color and curvature gave this one the nick-name "Glop". You can see her earlier dabbings
with handmade tile here also in the custom star tiles of the mosaic.
Mirror Shelf 4

An early example of Robin Indars work, you can see a handmade eye tile at the top center,
and her often used mini antique bottle as a vase mosaicked into place at the edge.
